Isothane Product Used in Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Award Winning Programme

Non-standard cavities - flood risk

Congratulations to Greater Manchester Combined Authority

We here at Isothane would like to offer our congratulations to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Green Deal Communities Programme.  Last month they were awarded the ‘Large Scale Project of the Year Award’ at the National Energy Efficiency & Retrofit Awards championing the work they have done across all 10 councils in Greater Manchester to improve the energy efficiency of properties throughout the area. In total 8.8 million pounds was invested mainly helping low income homeowners and private tenants who wouldn’t have been able to make the improvements on their own.

Full details of the work carried can be seen in the video below.

Or on the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Website.

Isothane’s Products Used

As those of you have watched the video have seen amongst the measures carried out was the use of Isothane’s Technitherm product in Rochdale. Technitherm was used because as well as offering improved energy efficiency, Technitherm is also water resilient meaning it can offer security to those at risk of flooding.

What makes Technitherm water resilient is its closed cell structure. This closed cell structure means that Technitherm is non-absorbent and as such won’t soak up any water during flooding. Not only does this mean Technitherm won’t let water transfer through the cavity off a property, but it means Technitherm will remain serviceable after flooding has occurred.

Technitherm is KIWA and LABC approved, and suitable for use in many ‘hard to treat’ properties including those prone to flooding. Other ‘hard to treat’ properties include those with random cavities including stone properties, narrow cavities under 50mm and properties with no damp proof courses.

As well as it’s LABC and KIWA approval Technitherm has also been tested by The BRE for its flood resilience qualities, which concluded that Technitherm would prevent the ingress of water into a building in a flood situation through the cavity and that the Technitherm did not show any degradation as a result.

If you would like more information on how Technitherm® can help then please contact our technical team who will be happy to provide you more information on the product and its suitability.

A Final Congratulations

We’d like to again extend our congratulations to Greater Manchester Combined Authority and their Green Deal Communities Programme ‘Large Scale Project of the Year Award’ and hope that they can continue to lead the way for other local authorities.

We’d also like to again encourage you to watch the video to find out all about the work done by Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
