the problem

A 25 metre long tidal control gate was internally waterlogged due to the original installed open cell foam absorbing water from a small leak. This prevented the gate operating correctly.

the solution

The gate was removed from the water. The waterlogged foam was removed and the tube fully cleaned and dried. Isothane LD40 was injected into drilled holes along the tube, full filling the holding tube

the outcome

Isothane LD40 has a closed cell structure and will not absorb water should a leak occur again in the future. The gate was refitted, tested and now operates effectively.
