Case Study

Plopsaland Theme Park Belgium

Set and Prop Design Theme Park

The Problem

Novel techniques were required to create a 300m² restaurant complex roof in the this prestigious North Belgium theme park. It was essential that the roof structure was waterproofed and the complex design required a re-think to the originally considered sheet membrane waterproofing.

the solution

To create the complex toadstool shape, polyurethane rigid foam was sprayed and sculpted and then coated with fast-setting Armour-Flex, an elastomer to provide a durable, water and weather proof roof. The colour scheme was provided by overcoating Armour-Flex with an aliphatic coating to ensure the aesthetics of the structure matched its durability and eliminating the need for maintenance.

the outcome

Exceptionally durable, seamless roof waterproofing on a very complex curved structure which after 10 year in service is still performing.
