Domestic Roof

Client:
Private home owner
Project:
To insulate roof to 0.16 Wm²K and stabilise tiles.
Problem:
This older traditional style roof was suffering from a lack of insulation and a very draughty roof space, with the added issue of tile movement, due to nail fatigue.
Solution:
Firstly, the external roof defects were made good. All rafters and beams were then taped and masked, then Duratherm® rigid polyurethane foam insulation was sprayed between the rafters, directly onto the tiles.
Additional insulation to be placed between the joists at ceiling level, then boarded over with loft floor boarding.
Result:
A fully insulated and stabilised roof to current Building Regulations, reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. The foam sealed roof created a dust free, cleaner environment. Additional floor storage area will also be created.
