U-Value Calculations

Written By Peter Lawson

At Isothane we are able to provide u-value calculations as part of the technical support we offer our new, existing and potential customers.

what IS A u-value?

U-values measure how effective a material is an insulator. The lower the U-value is, the better the material is as a heat insulator. Polyurethane products are well known for their increased thermal efficiency which results in lower u-values. Installing our cavity wall insulation product, Technitherm® and using our spray foam product, Duratherm®, which both have a low thermal conductivity value of 0.025 W/mK, means you can achieve lower u-values.

OUR U-VALUE CALCULATIONS

We are able to provide contractors, architects, specifiers and homeowners u-value calculations for their projects when using our products. Our calculations take into account fixings used, bridging factors (where appropriate). This means you can be confident that the calculation you get is correct for the building you have supplied. The team are always on hand to discuss this with you before you submit your u-value request. Our U-value calculations can take into consideration the condensation risk analysis if you require this information. Further information on condensation risk can be found here.

If you would like to request a u-value calculation, please download the following form and email it to technical@isothane.com
