Isothane Case Study: Duratherm® stabilises Waste Transfer Station roof

The Client:

Norfolk Environmental Waste Services (NEWS), Caister Transfer Station.

The Problem:

The Waste Transfer Centre is a large building with a fibre cement roof cladding that is 11.4m above the ground with a surface area in excess of 1200m². Because it is near the coast, in high winds the roofing panels move and in certain instances they have cracked and had to be replaced. This was adding up in very significant maintenance bills.

The Solution:

NEWS decided to have Duratherm® applied to all the corrugated roofing sheets and purlins, in order to strengthen the roof, minimise on going roof repair costs and extend the life of this building - highly important to local environmental management.

The Outcome:

“NEWS had to continually repair the roof of the Transfer Station at a cost of £3000 a time because of the height, equipment required and the need to meet stringent Health and Safety requirements when the work took place. Permaseal UK Ltd were selected ahead of a number of other options because of their attention to detail, their installation history and their manufacturer approval. The work was completed to schedule over 3 weekends with no downtime to our operation. Permaseal delivered to expectation.”
