Spray Foam Insulation

To insulate the Mesopotamia (57’ x 6’). Narrow boats are very difficult to insulate using more traditional methods, due to the shape of the interior of the hull. The risk of gaps, separation of insulation from the substrate and condensation are high with traditional methods.

All areas not to receive Duratherm® were masked off. These consisted of floor, timber battens to receive internal lining board, window & door sections and various elements of machinery. 30mm of Duratherm® was sprayed on the new bare steel of the boat walls, roof and cold-water storage tank. This will help to insulate the interior of the boat from the cold outside, and also protect the steel from corrosion, as the foam will help reduce the build up of condensation to the steel. Once fully sprayed, all the masking was removed, and any excess foam was then cut back. All waste was removed from the boat, and then the internal fit out could commence without delay. The whole application took less than 1 full day.
