The Client: Bawe Jem / MIP.
The Problem: Carvida fishing vessel required insulation of the ice room,
where fish are boxed and stored after catching until they are
brought to shore. Excessive condensation and high energy
costs for the refrigeration were particular issues.
The Solution: The walls and ceiling of the 12m x 7m room were lined with
timber and the floor concreted. Isothane LD40 was used to
fill the void behind the panels and between the panels and
the hull. To help plan the installation, a metal rod was used
to gauge the varying depth of the void.
The Outcome:
- Transformation of the efficiency of refrigeration
- Elimination of condensation problems
- None of the catch now unfit for sale
- MIP very impressed with the performance of Isothane
PU foam and the ease of installation
