Description

ARMOUR - PRIME is a specialised, high adhesion primer system designed to improve adhesion between polyurethane or polyurea coatings and substrates. ARMOUR - PRIME is particularly suitable when used in conjunction with Isothane Polyurea coatings. It is a solvent free, zero VOC, two-pack system. It acts as a sealer on porous substrates such as concrete and will consolidate a friable substrate such as that of asbestos cement. It acts as a barrier coat on bituminous substrates and improves adhesion to difficult substrates such as non-ferrous metals.

PREPARATION

General:
  • All surfaces should be sound, clean, dry and free from oil or grease
  • Remove loose material and flaking paint
  • Brush and wash off soft or powdery surfaces
  • Remove rust and corrosion from metals
  • Abrade smooth metal, plastics and fibreglass surfaces
  • Allow 28 days for new concrete to cure and before removing laitance and applying primer
Roofs:
  • Remove dust, dirt and loose chippings
  • Kill fungal growth with fungicide and wash off thoroughly, and dry
  • Fill cracks and voids with exterior mastic

APPLICATION

Empty the contents of the iso tin into the resin tin and stir with an electric drill and suitable stirrer for 3 minutes. Please ensure to avoid entrapping any unnecessary air into the primer mixture. Paint out as thinly as possible and avoid pooling, using a squeegee, roller or brush.

CLEANING

Tools and rollers should be cleaned with Xylene, Cellulose Thinners or similar solvents within 25 minutes of use.

STORAGE, HANDLING AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Topcoat Application Time: The earliest overcoating time is when the primer system has dried but still has a slight tack, eg; at 20°C this would be after ~ 2.5 hrs. The latest overcoating time is 24 hrs after the primer application. After this it is necessary to re-apply the primer.
