Product Description
ARMOUR - FLEX PW is a 100% solids pure polyurea
elastomer designed as a monolithic, seamless, waterproof
liner for where there is direct contact with potable water
or food products. It is the fastest curing and fastest
back-in-service polyurea coating available with WRAS
approval. ( WRAS certificate 0603509 ). It also has approval
for food contact under standard EN1186-3 2002.
ARMOUR - FLEX PW is the first choice where a tough,
flexible liner is required. It is very abrasion resistant,
requires extremely short down time, contains no VOCs and
has extremely low odour. It has very good salt fog and
chemical resistance and may be applied in conditions down
to -20ºC. It is available in a range of colours as indicated.
Light colours may change with UV exposure over time.
Typical Applications
- Tank linings, water pipe & fittings lining
- Potable water or food product containment lining
- Railway wagon lining for food products
Processing
ARMOUR - FLEX PW is processed through specially
designed dispensing equipment having accurate metering
pumps for the two components. The components should be
maintained at 35- 55ºC and mixed and sprayed by the appropriate
equipment, on which Isothane technical staff can advise.
Cured elastomer to be repaired should be abraded and traces
of dust removed. Maximum adhesion will be obtained if
the surfaces to be repaired are heated to a minimum of
35ºC. Storage, Handling and Personal
Protection
- ARMOUR - FLEX PW should be stored in dry
conditions at a temperature 10-25ºC.
- ARMOUR - FLEX PW resin has a shelf life of
6 months. ARMOUR - FLEX PW H ( Hardener ) has a shelf
life of 6 months if stored at 10-25ºC.
- Opened, part used containers must be resealed immediately
after use.
The recommendations in our Safety Data Sheet for this
product must be followed at all times. More general information
is included in our publication “A Guide to the Safe Handling
of Polyurethane Chemicals” and in the following Technical
Data Sheet which is available on request:-
- Decontamination of Isocyanates using Isothane Decontaminant.
Additional Information
ARMOUR - FLEX PW resin may require some agitation
before use, in order to effect redispersion of any pigment.
Additionally, recirculation of both components from the
barrel, through the machine’s heater blocks and back to
the barrel, is recommended when using standard 2:1 or
1:1 transfer pumps, in order to prime the materials and
machine. 30 minutes of recirculation to warm the components
to around 40ºC will be adequate.
Post Curing: Articles need not be post cured.

Installation:
The following is brief, general guidance only. We recommend
reference to SSPC specifications for correct preparation.
Concrete
Do not apply in wet conditions. Concrete must be structurally
sound, free of voids, honeycombs, pin holes and delaminations.
Concrete must have at least a 3000 psi minimum compressive
strength. Maintain all expansion joints. Abrasive blast
to remove surface laitance. A high degree of cleanliness
is necessary. Surface must be dry and sound.
Substrate Repairs
All spalls and delaminations must be rehabilitated. Rout
and seal all cracks over 1.5mm with appropriate joint
sealants. Pre-fill all pin holes. Steel
Do not apply in wet conditions. Any dissolved salts must
be removed. Steel must be cleaned and blasted. All welds
must be ground smooth. General Surface
Preparation
Mechanical methods such as shot blasting and sandblasting
are preferred. Any weak or damaged existing coatings must
be removed. Sound existing coatings can possibly be overcoated.

Outdoor application is not advised with presence of
strong wind, with internal R.H. of concrete above 10%
or with an ambient temperature below -20°C. *The product
has an aromatic base and it can slightly change color
over time, but keeps its mechanical / chemical / physical
characteristics. In case of aesthetic needs it may be
overcoated by an aliphatic UV resistant coating, which
Isothane can also supply.
