The Client: Lima Engineering.
The Problem: A secondary containment
bund required a tough, chemically
resistant coating in order to comply with Environment
Agency guidance on the storage of hazardous substances.
The Solution: Armour
- Chem polyurea elastomer, spray applied on the
bund.
First Isothane EMP polyurethane primer was used to seal
the new
concrete surface, to avoid any gassing out of trapped
moisture
when the fast-set coating was applied. Primer was ready
for
polyurea after 2 hours, polyurea took only 2 hours to
apply.
Application thickness was 2mm covering an area of 50mē.
The Outcome:
- Same day back in service
- Seamless, impermeable liner installed with high
chemical resistance
- Recently revisited after 7 years, there is only
some discoloration of the coating, but no deterioration
in physical properties and the bund continues to work
well.
